Filmmaker and activist Curtis Chin has just published his memoir, Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant. Time Magazine lists it among the most anticipated new books of the fall. Chin's national book tour brings him to Chicago on Tuesday, November 7. He will discuss his memoir at the American Writers Museum, 180 N. Michigan Ave., at 6:00 p.m.
As a gay Chinese youth coming of age in the 1980s, Chin learned valuable life lessons from the diverse clientele at the local Chinese restaurant. You won't want to miss this engaging chronicle.
Purchase your tickets here; they are about $17 for adults, $12 for seniors, students, and teachers. (Tickets are free for members of certain Asian American associations.)
