Gay Men's Book Group at Center on Halsted: [Hi, Honey, I'm Homo!]

Gay Men's Book Group-Chicago is a free, open monthly book discussion group welcoming male-identified individuals of all ages who are interested in reading and discussing gay-related literature, both fiction and non-fiction. Books to be discussed are selected by the group and posted on their Facebook page and via their newsletter email.

November's selection is Hi, Honey, I'm Homo!: Sitcoms, Specials, and the Queering of American Culture by Matt Baume. For decades, amidst the bright lights, studio-audience laughs, and absurdly large apartment sets, the real-life story of American LGBTQ+ liberation unfolded in plain sight in front of millions of viewers, most of whom were laughing too hard to mind. Matt Baume chronicles our lives playing out on the small screen in this most engrossing and entertaining tome.
