February Open Social - Celebrate Black Culture

Join us for another evening of food, fellowship, and fun! A special presentation!

At our February social, we invite you to sit back and enjoy the cool sounds of jazz, a uniquely American style of music with roots in the African American communities. This historical overview will be presented by our guest speaker, Bear Williams aka (Larry Kimpel), a 2023 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. Bear is a Chicago-Based Blues/Folk Artist who records and tours internationally. Bear’s career was launched in 1977 and he’s experienced incredible success ever since.

In addition to his recording, songwriting, and production work, Bear is extremely passionate about sharing his musical knowledge with anyone that desires to learn. Among his many accomplishments, Bear is currently on the teaching staff at The Old Town School of Folk Music.

New Price Structure: Ann Sather and Chicago PrimeTimers have worked together to keep the Monthly Open Social affordable at a price of only $25 per person. Starting this year, however, this low, low price will be available only for members who register and prepay by the Thursday before the event. The price will be $30 for all others, including nonmembers, members who pay at the door, and members who register and prepay after the Thursday before the event.

Please note that while coffee is included in the buffet price, the cost of soft drinks, juice, and smoothies will now align more closely with Ann Sather's menu pricing: $3 for soda and $5 for juice or smoothies. This update replaces the previous "pay what you can" policy for beverages. If possible, bringing exact change would be greatly appreciated—thank you!
